Step Three: A Name that Means Progress
The story behind Step Three's name reflects a commitment to progress and resilience. Picture a small group of Oklahoma change makers embarking on a mission to help their community members through life's challenges. They sought a name that encapsulated their mission: guiding individuals towards a brighter, more sustainable future, one step at a time.
Enter 'Step Three. This name embodies the essence of moving forward, even amidst adversity. It signifies reaching a pivotal moment where one is ready to confront obstacles and enact positive change.
Our logo, featuring a large bear journeying towards three mountains under the rising sun, visually represents this ethos. The bear symbolizes resilience, the mountains signify life's hurdles, the rising sun represents new beginnings and each step the bear takes marks progress towards positive change and renewal.
For Step Three, our name is not just a label—it's a beacon of hope and resilience. It reminds us that no matter the obstacles, progress is always within reach.
Founding & Milestones
Step Three was born from a deep-rooted desire to serve the community of southeastern Oklahoma. Founded by Misti Luke, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with two decades of experience in behavioral health services, our journey began with a mission to fill the gaps in services and support.
Key milestones include our incorporation as a nonprofit corporation in 2022 and certification by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse in February 2024. Another significant achievement was the certification of our Batterers Intervention Program by the Oklahoma Attorney General's Victim Services Unit.
